Make Your Own Mezuzah! 🎨

When we purchased our first home we didn't know anything about Torah. We hadn't even heard of that word, much less the word Mezuzah. My husband lived in Silicon Valley for a few months before we could afford to buy a home. During this time he made some friends there at App Academy.

Through providence or possibly serendipity, one of his friends mailed us a house warming gift. It was a Mezuzah. What?! Yes that really happened and looking back I can only believe that this was an act of God.

I didn't know what to do with the thing but it looked special and I didnt want to hide it away in a drawer. I placed it over our thermostat and it sat there for about a year until I became aware of what it really was and what it meant. It was that year that God opened our eyes to His Torah. We joined a fellowship of like-minded families our age and we began to read the Torah portions together.

I don't know how but that Mezuzah was a foreshadowing of what the Lord was about to do with our hearts and our home.

In 2019 we moved into our 2nd home. This time around I knew what a Mezuzah was and went on etsy to purchase a beautiful ceramic one in the shape of a dove. It was beautifully hand painted with a price tag to match. We placed it on our doorpost this time and not over the thermostat 😅

This year we sold that house and moved into our country home that we've been building for the last 5 years. I knew I wanted Mezuzahs for the kid's bedrooms and our master bedroom as well. I went on etsy again in hopes that I could find a good deal for a pack of 5 (5 bedrooms total). If I wanted hand painted porcelain Mezuzahs again, it would cost me close to 350.00 🤑 lol.

That is why we made our own Mezuzahs (mezuzot) for our country home! You can too if you follow this lesson 🕊🙏🏼
