Parable of the Lost Coin 🪙
Have you ever lost something special?
One year our son thought he lost the new kitten we had just adopted. She was small and could easily get lost anywhere in our two story home. She also had a bad habit of trying to bolt out the door anytime someone opened the front or back door. We had looked for her up and down without any luck. She wasn't in anyone's bedroom and she wasn't under the couch. Where could she be?
So while my husband took a flashlight and started to look outside for a lost kitten, I sat on the couch with my 7-8 yr old son and asked him if he wanted to pray for help. We prayed together and asked the Lord to help us find our lost kitten. My son had picked her out and she was special to him. I couldn't think about having to break any bad news to him about his kitten.
Almost as soon as we finished praying, our son looked inside the under stairs closet only to find her all curled up on a pile of luggage. She was sound asleep and safely tucked under the stairs. How happy and relieved we all were to find her. In a similar way, the Lord rejoices when one repentant sinner is found.
In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. -Luke 15:10
