Parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man π«Άπ½
In The Kingdom there will be a Great Reversal
Remember when Messiah said the first would be last? We see this same reversal in the parable of Lazarus and the rich man. While Lazarus was poor, stricken and invisible in this present age, he would become exalted at Abraham's side and cared for in the age to come. Similarly the condition of the rich man would be reversed. Though he was wealthy and exalted in this present age, he would be humbled and judgment would come upon him in the form of fire and contempt in the age to come.
This parable points to the finality of the coming judgment. There will not be second chances. If we do not heed Moses and the Prophets during this present age, it will be too late when the Kingdom comes upon us in all its glory. Our chance to truly repent, love our neighbor and care for the poor, as the Torah commands, is now.
'βBut Abraham said, βIf they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced even if someone rises from the dead!ββ' Luke 16:31
