Learning to Listen in the Wilderness מִדְבָּר| Discerning God's voice
"By the word (davar) of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth." Psalm 33:6
Davar emet vs Davar sheker
"Davar" is the hebrew word for "speak or word" (as we discussed last post). In fact the word "davar" appears about 95 times in the book of Deuteronomy! The bible describes two types of words: true words and false words.
God created the world through his "davar" or his word. This is an amazing revelation! God's word is always TRUE. God never speaks falsely! This is a promise we can place our full trust in. God says his word is trustworthy and true all the time. We can be confident that God's word will be a "davar emet" which means "true word".
In contrast, the word of Hasatan is FALSE precisely because it will not pass the test of time. Hasatan is the author of lies and deceit. The bible says the dragon has a slanderous tongue and with it he slanders God and his word. This is a "false word" or "davar sheker".
